Job Description:
This job description applies to the role of Operational Excellence Specialist, within this role you are responsible for Operational Excellence (OE) learning and deployment to optimize business efficiency while embedding a culture of Continuous Improvement (CI) in a Lean environment.
Your role will be to proactively work with the PCT teams and the Drug Substance Leadership Team (DSLT) to support how assets and resources are configured and optimized to create value and minimize losses.
  • You are the point of contact for introducing changes within the Continuous improvement process.
  • You will lead and facilitate continuous improvement initiatives driving improved levels of performance within the business unit.
  • You will work in partnership with the PCT teams to identify CI goals and drive continuous improvement projects to meet these goals.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide coaching on the floor on continuous improvement and innovative solutions to recurring issues.
  • Provide coaching and facilitation to PCT teams on continuous improvement,
  • Develop and implement systems to collect data to identify problems and to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Drive and promote the use of improvement techniques across the DSP OpU (Six Sigma, Standard Work, 5S, Lean).
  • Coach, or directly lead continuous improvement projects/groups where required in order to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Be a change agent for new ways of thinking and continually finding ways to add value back into the business through OE principles and tools.
  • Lead 5S and Support the Standard work program for the DSP facility
  • Facilitate & lead breakthrough workshops, progress checks and wrap-up meetings with OE project teams.
  • Identify & prioritize improvement opportunities across the business unit to achieve performance targets.
  • Method 1 coach for DSP, run courses and certify colleagues in DMAIC yellow Belt.
  • Recognize Performance of the DSP OpU and Champion Performance across the site through the Site reward program.
  • Co-ordinate the IMEx Tier 2 and Tier 1 CI meetings, ensuring timely completion of Projects.
  • Innovation coach for the DSP Leadership team.
Education and Experience:
To be successful in this role you will require:
  • Relevant 3rd level qualification and /or significant experience in an OE role with expertise and experience of lean manufacturing / six sigma.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading project teams to success including practical application of implementing improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills in gathering data from groups, defining work problems and working with operational teams to design effective solutions to resolve problems.
  • Proven experience of business improvement and operations excellence projects.
  • Proven Working knowledge of Lean and 6Sigma tools.
  • Proven Track record of CI implementation.
  • An ability to think analytically and innovate to achieve goals.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making capability.
