Department Function/
Objective
To ensure the plant meets its customer service, financial, inventory management, quality and safety goals through the effective management of the Bulk Reagents and Diagnostic Products Area.
Primary function
To carry out all activities assigned to ensure that production targets in terms of quality, safety, quantity and volume are attained.
Reporting
This position reports to Manufacturing Team//Testing/Unit/Shift Leader/ Manufacturing Manager / Warehouse Team Leader Receiving and staging.
Supervisory / Management Responsibility
No supervisory duties are associated with this position.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform all duties assigned by Team/Testing/Unit/Shift Leader/ Manufacturing Manager
- Carry out operations in the testing area, manufacturing area such as solution Prep formulation and concentrates area, service center and warehouse areas, including:
- filling
- packing
- kit packing/labelling
- service center (e.g. autoclaving, steaming filters)
- computer applications
- Component inspections
- Surface cleaning in Lab area’s
- Collection of quality records
- Non Inventory material checks
- Water flushing
- Staging of equipment for Prep
- Complete and comply with all documentation as required in the process.
- Adhere to all Good Manufacturing requirements.
- Ensure that all duties etc. are carried out in a safe manner.
- Ensure that activities are completed within budgeted guidelines e.g. waste levels, per plan requirements.
- Training of new employees.
- Adhere to all relevant Operating Procedures.
- Revising OP's and other documentation as appropriate.
- Assist in and become involved in cost saving ideas
- Perform line clearances and line close outs.
- Perform computer applications as required.
- Purchasing of non-inventory materials.
- Partake in project work, such as product transfers, validation of facilities, equipment or processes and other relevant operations/quality improvement projects/programs.
- Complete all activities in a safe manner ensuring that any potential safety issues and areas of improvement are highlighted to Manager.
- Ensure environmental procedures eg recycling, waste minimization are adhered to and improvements are made where possible.
Carry out operations in the BRO Solution prep manufacturing area including
- Solution Formulation
- Tank Mixing
- Computer applications e.g. BPCS, MES
- In- Process Testing
Leadership Activities

Interpersonal skills
Ability to interact with other departments within the plant and also members of various teams.
Education
Minimum: Leaving Certificate or equivalent standard of education is required, or 7 years manufacturing work experience as this foundation will provide a high level of documentation, attention to detail and disciplined approach to work.
Experience/ Background
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential as Diagnostic Assistants are accompanied until certified as competent on the tasks they perform.
Problem solving
Operates in an environment, which is not constantly supervised.
Expected to handle all day to day manufacturing issues, however, if a major problem occurs, the Diagnostic Assistant will confer with a Team /Testing/Unit/Shift Leader/ Manufacturing Manager.
Accountability
Is responsible for ensuring that proper procedures are adhered to, failure to do so could result in financial losses, customer complaints, ultimately product recalls and significant financial losses.
Scope of Authority
Individual is given authority to carry out their duties without constant supervision.
Formal goals are reviewed on a regular basis and formal performance reviews are carried out once per year.
